Welcome to the Arbor House Inn green house

As human beings, we are curious creatures. Sometimes we want a peek under the tent on what really goes on behind the scenes, we don’t just want to enjoy things at face value. We need to know secrets.

At the Arbor House Inn Bed & Breakfast we do our best to keep things in tip top shape with minimal disturbance to the peace and tranquility here by the river. For those that are curious for more, welcome to the Arbor House Inn greenhouse.

This dome-shaped monstrosity tucked by the driveway entrance behind our other outbuildings is one of the biggest blessings for us at the Arbor House. We lovingly joke about it being part of Laurie’s therapy as she looks forward to her daily gardening moments, but this odd looking structure is where the herbs and all things green and good for you come from that end up on the breakfast plate. This is farm to table in action.

Greenhouse goodies

Think chives, onions and parsley for the various egg dishes served daily. Cherry tomatoes for snacking, roma tomatoes for bacon sandwiches, and mint for the spa water served at snack time. Sometimes we think there’s nothing this little greenhouse can’t produce.

As one of the end results of a major   work weekend project, this blessing was bestowed upon us roughly 15 years ago as a gift from some dear friends who were moving back to Texas. We took it apart on their property, hauled it back to the B&B and reassembled it where it currently resides. What a project! We are so grateful for the fabulous gift and to all those who were a part of assembling it and making it into something that is essential for the day-to-day magic that happens at the B&B.

Depending on the time of year, the green house is perfect for a quiet cup of coffee and if asked nicely, we’d love to give you a tour and show you the B&B’s green thumb.
