A note from the innkeepers ... Inkeepers: Keith & Laurie

It’s a good thing to do some reflecting from time to time. Looking back over this past year, I find, as usual, that we have much to be grateful for.  Topping the list: we’re still here. The whole of South Fork was predicted to burn to the ground because of a massive wildfire raging through our area this summer. Didn’t happen. We’re grateful that experts can sometimes be wrong. We’re grateful that prevailing winds can change course.  We’re grateful that aspen trees don’t burn well.  We’re grateful for brave firefighters and all the good people that support them.

Looking back over the year, we can’t help but be grateful for the many wonderful guests that have stayed with us—some as long as a couple of weeks, some simply passing through. The reasons for coming were as varied as the guests themselves and we consider it a privilege to have been able to host each one. We had the pleasure of “assisting” with several proposals, hosting numerous weddings, accommodating even more honeymooners and have lost count of how many anniversary celebrations we enjoyed watching. One couple marked their 62nd anniversary and booked again for their 63rd. Another couple knew they would not see another anniversary together as this was the last trip one of them would ever make. We had couples here to enjoy precious time together as they prepared for upcoming deployment and others here to celebrate coming home safely. Looking back, one of my favorite reflections is documented in a birth announcement we received from a couple thanking us for the wonderful time they enjoyed here nine months previous.

Yes, it’s good to do some reflecting from time to time. Reflecting makes us grateful for predictions unfulfilled, aspens that don’t burn, firefighters, weddings, anniversaries and babies. More than anything, reflecting makes us grateful to God who holds all things, all people and all circumstances in his very capable and loving hands.

Happy Reflecting …
Keith & Laurie
